Texture Chic Fun Fold-Kylie’s International Blog Highlights

Hello! For those of you in the US, I hope you have been enjoying the Labor Day weekend. I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I last participated in Kylie Bertucci’s International Blog Highlights! Readers get to vote on their top five favorites in the gallery and the top 10 winners will get to participate in an International Blog Hop later this month. The theme is “thank you”.

My card features the Texture Chic Suite from the annual catalog. It is my most favorite suite and is the first one I purchased when the new catalog was introduced. The card is a fun fold that really shows off the beautiful Designer Series Papers to their fullest. I found this fold when I was browsing through Connie Stewart’s blog and decided to give it a try for a class project I was working on last month.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – Cut a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.
  • Cut a piece of Petal Pink cardstock at 4″ x 10 1/2″ and score at 5 1/4″. Fold and crease sharply with a bone folder
  • Cut two pieces of Petal Pink cardstock at 2 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and score both pieces lengthwise at 1/2″. Fold and crease sharply with a bone folder. Adhere pieces to both sides to the back of the bottom half of the larger piece of Petal Pink cardstock. Adhere entire piece to the Sahara Sand card base.
  • Cut a piece of Texture Chic Specialty Designer Series paper at 3 3/4″ x 5″. Cut a piece of Gold 1/4″ Shimmer Ribbon and tie into a bow around the DSP. Adhere to card front.
  • Prepare pieces for the card front collage. Cut a piece of Distressed Gold paper to fit the grid die from the Chic Dies. Cut a piece of an Adhesive Sheet to fit and adhere to paper. Run though the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Adhere to card front over the ribbon. This piece will be the base for the collage.
  • Die cut two different leaf shapes from scrap pieces of Soft Succulent cardstock. Back the cardstock with Adhesive Sheet before running through die cutting machine.
  • Die cut three flower bases with scrap pieces of Texture Chic Specialty Designer Series Paper. Die cut three open flower accent pieces from scrap pieces of Petal Pink cardstock. Before die cutting, adhere pieces of Adhesive Sheet to each piece. Adhere the accent pieces to the flower bases.
  • Adhere leaf pieces to top part of the Distressed Gold grid piece. Arrange the three flowers and adhere with liquid glue . Add a Champagne Rhinestone to the center of each flower.
  • Cut four pieces of DSP at 1 3/4″ x 5″ for the fun fold side flaps. Select two different pieces of DSP. Adhere one set to the front of the flaps and the other set to the inside of the flaps.
  • Cut another piece of the DSP used for the inside flaps at 1 1/4″ x 4″ and adhere to inside upper part of the Petal Pink card flap.
  • Cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 3 3/4″ x 5″. Stamp the swoosh image from the Season of Chic stamp set with Petal Pink ink, stamping off once before stamping onto the cardstock. Stamp the greeting with Sahara Sand over the swoosh image. Adhere a large Brushed Brass Butterfly to the upper left corner. Adhere piece to inside.

I’d be so appreciative if you would vote for my card! Click on the vote image below. Once you are in the gallery, click on the heart at the top right hand side of the picture as the hearts appear.

Fancy Frames Cards

Hello!

Today I have two cards for you that feature the Fancy Frames dies from the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog. I was pleased to see so many stand-alone die sets in the new catalog. I thought that the two dies in this set were so pretty and would make a nice addition to card fronts. When I first saw them in the catalog I pictured that a number of flower images in some of the stamp sets I own would fit into the center opening of the frames, but that didn’t turn out to be the case. When I received the dies it turns out that the openings were smaller than what they appeared to be in the catalog, so I was stumped as to how I would use them. Then it came to me that they would enhance the backgrounds on card fronts and that die cuts and images could be placed on top of the frames and voila! It worked like charm and I was so happy with the results of the two cards shown here.

These are two of the cards we made in one of my classes last month. The projects used the Potted Geraniums Bundle and the Hues of Happiness Suite. Here are instructions for how to make both cards. cards.

Hues of Happiness Card

  • Card base – cut piece of Melon Mambo cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
  • Cut a piece of Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper with a variegated background at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere to card front.

  • Die cut a variety of flowers and leaves from the sheet of DSP with pink and yellow flowers that coordinate with the Blooming Happiness Dies. Arrange the collage over the frame and when you are pleased with the layout, start adhering the pieces to one another with Mini Glue Dots until you have one big floral piece. Adhere the floral piece to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Stamp greeting from the Go To Greetings stamp set with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on scrap piece of Basic White cardstock and run through Cut and Emboss machine with the smallest label die from the Stylish Shapes dies. Adhere with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, tucking one edge under the flowers.

Potted Geraniums Card

  • Card base – cut a piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
  • Cut a piece of Soft Succulent cardstock at 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ and adhere to card front.

Hues of Happiness Fun Fold Card

Hello!

Today’s card features the beautiful Hues of Happiness Suite and a W fun fold, which looks difficult but is actually quite easy to make!

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
  • Cut a piece of DSP from the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper at 4″ x 5 1/4″. I used the piece with variegated purples and blues. Adhere to card front.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 3 3/4″ x 5″. Use the large background die from the Blossoming Happiness Dies. Position the cardstock horizontally on the cutting plate, place the die at an angle on the left side of the cardstock and run through die cutting machine. Flip the die in the opposite direction, place at an angle on the right side of the cardstock and run through die cutting machine. This die both fully cuts and partially cuts the paper. You can lift the partially cut parts of the cardstock by using the pointy end of the Take Your Pick tool or other piercing tool. Adhere to card front.
  • Stamp one large and one medium floral image from the Happiness Abounds stamp set on piece of Basic White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Color flowers with Fresh Freesia and Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends. Stamp three leaf images and color with Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends. Run through die cutting machine with coordinating dies. Arrange on card front. Adhere leaves to flowers with Mini Glue Dots and then adhere all pieces to card front.
  • Stamp greeting with Memento ink on 1/2″ wide scrap piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock. Punch both ends with the rounded end of the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. Adhere to card front.
  • Adhere a few Gorgeous Grape Glossy Dots for a bit of bling.

  • Cut two pieces of DSP at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere.
  • Cut four pieces of Gorgeous Grape cardstock at 2 1/4″ each and four pieces of Basic White cardstock at 2″ each. Stamp greeting on one of the white squares and leave one blank to write a message.
  • One of the floral DSP sheets is designed so that you can die cut the flowers and leaves with the Blossoming Happiness Dies. Die cut two different flowers and a few leaves. Adhere to white squares.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 1″ x 11″ and score at 2 3/4″, 5 1/2″ and 8 1/4″. Crease all folds very sharply with a bone folder.
  • Run a thin line of liquid glue at the top of the 11″ strip. Open card and center the strip in the middle. Line up the top of the strip with the top of the card and adhere. Run a thin line of liquid glue at the bottom of the strip. Line up the strip with the bottom of the card and adhere.
  • Adhere the four squares to the strip, running a thin line of liquid glue in the middle of each square. Don’t apply glue to the entire square otherwise the fold won’t work properly.

Potted Geraniums Card

Hello!

This Potted Geranium card is one of the cards we made at my monthly class last week. We made another card with this bundle and I will be posting it in the next week or two. When I think summer plants, geraniums always come to mind and I always have at least one flower pot filled with them on the little patio off my kitchen.

  • Stamp geranium leaves with Garden Green ink on piece of Basic White cardstock. This is a two-step stamp set so first, stamp the leaf base, stamping off once before stamping onto the cardstock. Stamp the detailed leaf image over the base.
  • Stamp flower base with Sweet Sorbet ink, stamping off once. Stamp detailed flower image with Real Red ink over flower base.
  • Stamp flower pot with Basic Gray ink, stamping off once for the base image and stamp detailed image over base.

Texture Chic Note Cards

Hello!

This is my first project using the Texture Chic Suite. When I saw it in the new annual catalog I knew that it would be part of my first order because not only is the Season of Chic a versatile stamp set, but also because of the beautiful color palette of the Designer Series Paper, which is so soft looking and pretty, and the Distressed Gold Specialty Paper. These are the thank you cards I sent to my customers for their June orders. I always forget that our note cards are a perfect size for quick thank you notes, so I pulled them out for this project.

Here is how I made the cards.

  • Card base – Basic White Note Cards & Envelopes- Item #159232
  • Stamp the “swoosh” image across the front of the card, alternating with Petal Pink and Pool Party ink.
  • Stamp two shells on a scrap piece of Basic White cardstock. This is a two-step stamp set so stamp the solid images first. I wanted a lighter base so for both ink colors, I stamped off once before stamping onto the scrap piece. Stamp the second shell image over the base with Sahara Sand ink. Run through die cutting machine with the shell die from the Chic Dies set.
  • Cut a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock at 3 1/4″ x 4″ and cut a piece of Adhesive Sheet the same size. Adhere to cardstock and run through die cutting machine with the large mesh die. Peel off adhesive backing and adhere to card base.
  • Cut a small piece of Distressed Gold Specialty Paper to fit the three shell dies and cut a piece of Adhesive Sheet the same size. Run through die cutting machine, peel off backings.
  • Create the shell collage by adhering the die cut pieces over the mesh. Adhere the stamped shell images with liquid glue.
  • Cut a strip of the Texture Chic Designer Series Paper with the shell design at 2 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. Run liquid glue around the front flap of the envelope. Adhere strip and cut around the bottom of the flap to remove excess DSP.

Tea Boutique Cards & Envelopes

Hello!

I took another short break from blogging while I was on vacation last week in Savannah, Georgia. It is such a beautiful and historic city! I did a few on & off trolley tours, walked my feet off in the historic district, went on a fun evening ghost tour, walked along the riverfront and ate way too much good food! Here are just a few of the many pictures I took.

One of the beautiful squares in the historic district
Savannah River and bridge to South Carolina
Mercer Williams House as written about in the book “Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil”

Here are two cards we made at my stamping club last month that I hadn’t posted. They use the Cup of Tea Bundle and the coordinating Tea Boutique Cards & Envelopes. The Cards & Envelopes include four each of the five new In Colors and are a quick way to make cards without having to cut and score cardstock for the bases, and the coordinating envelopes are very pretty! There are 20 card bases and 20 envelopes in the package, which at $10.00 is a great value!

Here is how to make the cards.

  • Select one of the card bases from the pack. I used the Starry Sky and Parakeet Party bases for these cards.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 3 1/2″ square and run through die cutting machine with the largest circle from the Stylish Shapes dies. Adhere to card base.
  • Cut a piece of In Color cardstock at 2″x 2 1/2″. Stamp teacup image with coordinating ink and cut out with teacup die.
  • Cut a 2″ wide strip of Basic White cardstock. Stamp striped teacup image and run through die cutting machine. Using the same strip of cardstock, cut out a solid white teacup with the die. On the remaining piece of cardstock, cut a piece of an adhesive sheet and adhere. Run through the die cutting machine with the leaf teacup die. Adhere to solid white teacup. Adhere all three teacups as pictured.
  • To make the lemon, run a scrap piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock through the die cutting machine with the solid lemon die. On another scrap of Daffodil Delight, back it with an adhesive sheet and run through die cutting machine with the lemon slice die. Adhere to solid piece. Adhere to the base of the bottom teacup
  • Run scrap piece of Basic White cardstock through die cutting machine with the large tea bag die. Stamp word with coordinating ink. Die cut the heart from scrap piece of Sweet Sorbet cardstock and adhere to tea bag piece. Adhere tea bag to middle teacup.
  • Cut piece of coordinating 1/8″ metallic ribbon, tie in a bow and adhere to handle of the white teacup with a glue dot.
