Today I have a Halloween card and coordinating treat box to show you.  I’ve always loved celebrating Halloween.  I grew up in an apartment house in Brooklyn, NY in the 1950’s.  Many of the families had young children, so it was always a fun time going trick-or-treating without ever having to leave the building.  We went up and down all six floors, ringing bells to every apartment and always came away with  a huge haul of treats!  After we finished our trick-or-treating the mothers took turns making a party each year so we were able to continue the festivities, sharing our stash of treats and voting on the best costume.  I have lots of happy memories from that time!

The card layout uses a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

For the card, I used the Spooky Sweets bundle shown on page 51 of the Holiday Catalog, which includes the stamp set and the Spooky Bats punch. I also used Toil & Trouble designer series paper and Black Foil Sheets shown on page 49.

Here are the steps to make this card:

• Cut a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and fold in half.
• Using the grunge stamp from the Spooky Sweets set, stamp the front of the card randomly with Memento black ink.
• Cut a strip of black foil at 1″ x 5 1/2″ and adhere to middle of the card.
• Cut three strips of the bat paper from the Toil & Trouble designer series paper at 1 1/4″ x 3 3/4″ and adhere to front of card, evenly spacing them.
• Die cut circle from black foil paper using one of the smaller circles in the Layering Circles Framelits set or with smaller circle punches.  Stamp the “Happy Halloween” greeting with Pumpkin Pie ink, die cut or punch out and attach to black circle.  Attach to bottom of card.
• Punch bats from black foil paper and use Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach to card.  I staggered them, with largest bat at upper left, medium in middle panel and smallest on right panel.

Here are the steps to make the treat box.

• Select a piece of paper from the Toil & Trouble designer series paper.  I used the cat pattern.  Cut paper to 5 1/2″ by 8 1/2″.  Using the Takeout Thinlits Dies pictured on page 50 in the catalog, die cut two box pieces.  Put pieces together with Tear & Tape.  I left the flaps up so that I could put a cellophane treat bag inside.
• Cut the cat from black foil paper using the cat punch which is shown on page 211 in the annual catalog.  Attach to front of box using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
• Stamp  “No Tricks Just Treats” with Pumpkin Pie ink using the stamp from the Spooky Sweets set and either punch out with a circle punch or die cut using one of the Layering Circles Framelits.
• Fill a cellophane bag with the Halloween candy of your choice and tie the bag with a piece of black bakers twine.  Cut a piece of black glittered organdy ribbon and tie on top of twine.  Attach the greeting to the ribbon with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional.
