Paper Pumpkin-Winter Wonders

The holiday season will be here before we know it. And along with putting up the Christmas tree and spending snowy nights by the fire, many of our Paper Pumpkin subscribers will be looking forward to opening their holiday kit. Christmastime papercrafting with Paper Pumpkin has become an annual tradition!

This October and November we are offering back-to-back coordinating kits, one with Christmas cards, the other with Christmas tags. While the kits have been designed to coordinate with one another each one is all-inclusive and can stand alone. Both kits make it easy for you to add a handmade, personal touch to your holiday giving—without a lot of fuss. It’s Christmas made easy with Paper Pumpkin!

The October kit includes supplies to make ten 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ cards and the coordinating colors are Early Espresso, Pool Party, Poppy Parade and Shaded Spruce. Subscribe now through October 10th by going to my Paper Pumpkin website here. The kit will arrive in your mailbox by the 20th of the month. The November kit includes supplies to make 24 holiday-themed gift tags of four different sizes and designs and the coordinating colors are the same as the ones in the October kit. You will be able to subscribe to the November kit from October 11- November 10th.

If you are new to stamping or to Paper Pumpkin, this would be a great time to give it a try. If you have subscribed in the past, you too might want to re-subscribe to get a jump on your holiday papercrafting.

The Raven

Today I’m sharing a card with you that I created with The Raven, my favorite Halloween stamp set in this year’s Holiday Catalog. This is a DistINKtive photo-realistic set so when stamped, the raven image is amazing! This is one of the cards we will be making in my upcoming Halloween classes.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut piece of Basic Black cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and fold in half.
  • Cut piece of Basic Black cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Emboss piece with the Woodland Embossing Folder. Highlight the tree branches by sponging Delicata Celestsial Copper Ink on with a Stamping Sponge or Sponge Dauber. You can also apply the ink by brayering the inside of the embossing folder and then running your cardstock through your embossing machine.
  • Tie piece of Copper Trim around embossed piece and attach to card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Cut piece of Whisper White cardstock at 3″ x 4″. Stamp branch with the Delicata Celestial Copper ink. Stamp raven on branch with Memento Black Ink. Stamp “It’s Halloween” underneath the branch. Cut out with the largest oval in the Stitched Shapes die set. Adhere to card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • For added bling I colored three rhinestones with a Sharpie Bronze Metallic marker and adhered them to the image.
  • For the inside of the card cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Stamp feather image with Memento Black Ink in bottom corner of card. Stamp “Haunted Night” greeting with the Delicata ink.

Season of Thanks SIP Card

Today I have a SIP card (Stamps, Ink, Paper), #stampsinkpaper, that features the Gather Together stamp set. I’ve been a long-time member of a local chapter of the American Business Women’s Association and recently hosted a mini-mixer at my home for a small group of members. In addition to the socializing and refreshments, I designed two cards for the women to make that will be donated to the Cards for Soldiers organization. One card is for the recipient to keep and the other is for them to send to a friend or loved one back home. Since not everyone knew how to stamp and there was a limited amount of time to do the projects I had to keep the cards easy to make. I think it turned out to be simple yet elegant. I also used this project at my stamping club last week. All of the club members are avid crafters and they loved making this card too!

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut piece of Cajun Craze cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″ and fold in half.
  • Cut piece of the woodgrain paper from the Come to Gather Designer Series Papers at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere to card base.
  • Cut piece of Whisper White cardstock at 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″. Using the leaf image from the Gather Together stamp set, stamp two leaves with Cajun Craze ink and then fill in the blank spots by stamping the leaves with Blackberry Bliss. Attach to a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock cut at 3 3/8″ x 4 5/8″ and attach to card front
  • Stamp greeting with Blackberry Bliss ink on piece of Whisper White cardstock and use circle punch or circle die to cut out. Punch a larger circle with a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock and adhere to the greeting. Attach to the card.
  • Cut piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″ for inside of card. Stamp leaf in left corner and stamp greeting of your choice or leave blank.

Healing Vibes

Hello and for those of you in the U.S. Happy Labor Day! Today I’m participating for the first time in Kylie Bertucci’s International Stampin’ Up! Blog Highlights. Readers get to vote on their top five favorites in the gallery and the top 10 ten winners will get to participate in an International Blog Hop later this month. The theme is encouragement and I hope you like my card.

I chose to work with Healing Hugs, a stamp set in the Distinktive line of photo-realistic stamps. I love the sentiments as well as the type fonts in this set. A group of women that stamp with me a few times a year recently asked to make some get well and sympathy cards and this was one of the cards we made. As it turns out, I needed two cards shortly after we made them so they came in handy.

Here is how I made the card:

  • Cut a piece of Rococo Rose cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and fold in half.
  • Cut a piece of the handwriting paper from the Pressed Petals Designer Series Paper at 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ and adhere to card base.
  • Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 3″ x 4 1/2″. Stamp flowers with Merry Merlot and Rococo Rose inks, slightly overlapping them. Stamp leaves with Pear Pizzazz ink. Stamp cross-hatch design with Soft Suede ink. Adhere to a piece of Merry Merlot cardstock cut at 3 1/8″ x 4 5/8″. Adhere to card.
  • On a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock stamp sentiment with Soft Suede ink. Cut with the stitched label die from the Smooth Sailing dies. You can use any other similar dies or punches. Add a small Rococo Rose faceted dot. Adhere to card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
