Here are a few questions and answers about the system
Q.What materials can be hot foiled? A. Hot foiling works best on: Two-Tone Cardstock Smooth cardstock (Our Basic White Cardstock works great!) Stampin’ Up! vellum Designer Series Paper Window Sheets Pearlized Specialty Paper Always test small samples first. Porous or textured papers can yield inconsistent results.
Q. Can I use my cutting dies for hot foiling? A. No. Cutting dies and hot foil dies are different. On our packaging, cutting dies and hot foil dies are represented with different colors. Also, both types of dies have a different coating and thickness that you can feel. When you’re foiling, make sure you only use dedicated hot foil dies, which have deeper-etched, flat designs made specifically for heat transfer. Do not use cutting dies with the Stampin’ Hot Foil System.
Q. How does hot foiling differ from heat embossing? A. While both techniques are high on “wow” factor, the hot foil finish is smooth, where heat embossing is slightly raised.
