Botanical Prints-Kylie’s Training Blog Hop

Hello! Welcome to Kylie Bertucci’s Demonstrator Training Blog Hop for May. I’m part of a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world that participate in Kylie’s program for building our businesses. Please be sure to click on the names in the list at the end of this post to hop around and view the beautiful cards posted by so many talented stampers.

Today’s card features the Botanical Prints Product Medley in the 2020 Mini Catalog. I fell in love with this medley as soon as I saw it in the catalog, ordered it right away and then it sat, untouched until I finally pulled it out over the weekend. I don’t know how I neglected this – obviously got sidetracked somewhere along the way! I made a bunch of these cards to thank customers for their April orders. This lovely set will be retiring on June 2nd and I will be sad to see it go. I used the same layout as the Free as a Bird card I posted last week for Kylie’s International Blog Highlights, as it is a great way to showcase our designer series papers.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″ and fold in half.
  • Cut piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. This will be used as the base to attach the DSP and ribbon.
  • Cut one piece of DSP at 2″ x 5 1/4″ and two contrasting pieces of DSP at 2″ x 2/12″ and 2″ x 2 3/4″ and adhere to card.
  • Cut piece of ribbon at 6″ and adhere to card, covering center seam of the DSP, folding both ends of the ribbon to the back of the card. I used a small piece of tape to hold them in place. Adhere this base to the card base.
  • Stamp floral image on scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock. Stamp greeting with Tuxdeo Black Memento Ink, using the Stamparatus to position it so it is centered properly.
  • Cut oval with the die from Layering Ovals set. Cut piece of Terracotta Tile cardstock with a scalloped die from the Layering Ovals set.
  • Color the image with Stampin’ Blends. I used Old Olive light and dark for the leaves, Cajun Craze light and dark, Pumpkin Pie light for the flowers. Adhere image to the Terracotta Tile oval piece.
  • Adhere oval to center of card. Use several Mini Glue Dots to adhere dragonfly to image.

Share Sunshine COVID-19 Giveback

Stampin’ Up! is a very giving company that has supported many worthwhile causes over the years through donating a percentage of sales of specially designed products. With a worldwide pandemic upon us, here is information about their new initiative. Stampin’ Up! is committed to making a difference in our global communities and caring about people first.

As part of our Making a Difference program we’re offering a product giveback opportunity to support organizations that are helping COVID-19 frontline responders and communities vulnerable to the pandemic.

You can purchase the Share Sunshine PDF Download and we will donate 100% of the proceeds to COVID-19 efforts.

The Share Sunshine PDF Download is a digital stamp set that’s packed with both lighthearted and heartfelt sentiments and imagery relevant to the unique COVID-19 and social distancing situation we’re currently experiencing–including many ideas that came from demonstrators and customers! You can use the download in your cardmaking and papercrafting projects. Simply print the imagery on cardstock and cut it out using our Paper Trimmer, punches, or dies. Since we are physically distanced from each other, now is a perfect time to share sunshine with our friends and family by sending cards!  I hope you will consider supporting this great cause.  For further information and to purchase the download, click here.

The PDF is 15 pages long and the first two pages provide a list of coordinating colors, stamp sets and dies or punches that you can use with the images.  There are multiples of the images, some in black ink and some in a variety of colors – no stamping necessary!!

Here are two quick cards I made that also use retiring products.

This card uses Mango Melody and Whisper White cardstock, Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper and the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder. The greeting and mat were cut with Stitched Rectangles dies.

This card uses Old Olive and Whisper White cardstock, Noble Peacock Specialty Designer Series Paper, die from Painted Labels dies, Peaceful Poppies Sequins.

Free as a Bird

Today I’m participating in Kylie Bertucci’s International Blog Highlights. Readers get to vote on their top five favorites in the gallery and the top 10 ten winners will get to participate in an International Blog Hop later this month. The theme is thanks and I hope you like my card.

I haven’t used the Free as a Bird stamp set in quite some time so I decided to use it to make a few cards to send to some of the caregivers at the personal care facility where my father lives as a small way to show my appreciation as they show up to work every day to care for the elderly under such stressful circumstances. I wanted the card to be bright and cheery and this little bird fills the bill!

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut piece of Pool Party cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″ and fold in half..
  • Cut a 2″ strip of paper from the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper. I chose the one with the feathers on one side and the bird cage on the reverse side. From that strip cut pieces at 5 1/4″, 2 3/8″ and 2 3/4″ and adhere to card.
  • Stamp bird image with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock. Color beak with dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend, body of bird with light Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blend and feathers with dark and light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends.
  • Stamp leaf image. Color branch with dark Soft Suede Stampin’ Blend and leaves with light Old Olive Stampin’ Blend.
  • Stamp thank you with the Memento Ink from the Very Versailles stamp set.
  • Cut stamped image with die from the Layering Circles die set. Cut scallop circle from piece of Pool Party cardstock. Adhere two pieces together.
  • Stamp small flower image from the Free as a Bird stamp set on small scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock, color with dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend, fussy cut and adhere to bird image with liquid adhesive.

Tropical Oasis Double Z Fold Card

Hello! Today’s card is a Double Z Fold card made with products from the Tropical Oasis Suite. This was one of the projects I had prepared for my club, which meets in-person six times a year. However with the sheltering in place orders I had to switch it to a virtual club and mail out kits. Since I didn’t have enough time to prepare in advance the club members didn’t have the Timeless Tropical stamp set on hand so I kept the stamping to a minimum so that they could each use greetings from stamp sets in their own collections. I added more die cut pieces and a label that would accommodate whatever greetings they used.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″ and fold in half.
  • Z fold base – cut piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock at 4″ x 10 1/4″, score at 2 1/2″ and 5″ and fold on score lines.
  • Cut one piece of Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Cut two pieces of DSP at 2 1/4″ x 3 3/4″. For one of these pieces you can use a contrasting piece of DSP. Adhere to Z fold piece. If you cut a contrasting piece of DSP adhere it to the middle section.
  • Die cut two of the labels from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies set. One uses a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock for the greeting. Stamp thank you greeting from the So Sentimental stamp set with Terracotta Tile ink. Cut the larger label with scrap piece of Terracotta Tile cardstock.
  • Die cut a variety of leaves from Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz cardstock with the dies from the In the Tropics dies. I also used the large fern die from the Tropical die set. Before adhering the two labels together, position two of the larger leaves in between both pieces at the top part of the label and then adhere them to the Terracotta label, then adhering both label pieces together. Place label halfway on top of the bottom fold. Arrange remaining leaves under the piece and then adhere them before adhering the label to the card. Apply adhesive only on the bottom half of the label in order to keep the Z fold open.
  • Add a Noble Peacock rhinestone to the greeting for a touch of bling.
  • For the inside of the card, cut piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Stamp greeting of your choice. Adhere to inside of Pretty Peacock card base. Adhere Z fold piece to card base to complete the card.

Come Sail Away Quick Card Ideas

Today I’m sharing two quick card ideas using the Come Sail Away Memories and More Card Pack which is part of the Come Sail Away Suite. I’ve really enjoyed making many cards with this product suite. They make perfect “guy” cards! I’m happy that the Sailing Home stamp set and coordinating Smooth Sailing Dies will be carrying over to the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalog however, all of the other products in the suite, including the Card Pack, are on the Last Chance list and will only be available while supplies last. The Card Pack is now $7.70, a 30% discount. Using the Card Pack makes putting cards together a breeze!

I recently made this card to send to my brother for his birthday. I did some stamping on this card but it still didn’t take much time to put it together. Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut piece of Crumb Cake cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″ and fold in half.
  • Cut piece of the newsprint paper from the Come Sail Away Designer Series Papers at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere to front of card.
  • Select a coordinating 3″ x 4″ card from the Card Pack. Stamp a greeting with Soft Suede ink and embellish with stickers from the Card Pack. I used greetings from the Perennial Birthday stamp set, one of my “go to” birthday greeting sets. Note: this set is on the Last Chance list.
  • Cut piece of Crumb Cake cardstock at 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ and adhere to the stamped piece.
  • Tie piece of Mini Braided Linen Trim around front of card and fray the edges. Attach Card Pack piece to front of card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • For the inside of the card, cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Using one of the pieces of braided trim from the Card Pack stickers, adhere to edge on left side of piece and trim off the excess length.
  • Stamp birthday greeting with Soft Suede ink. Using the smaller sailboat image from the Sailing Home stamp set, stamp bottom boat with Crumb Cake ink. For the second boat, ink the stamp with Crumb Cake, stamp off and then stamp onto piece, overlapping the bottom boat.
  • Adhere to inside of card.

I made this card to send to my father. He is 98 years old and lives in a personal care facility nearby, however, due to Covid-19 I haven’t been able to visit with him since March 12 and am only able to do limited FaceTime sessions with him, so I send him cards every other week to say hello. There is no stamping on this card so it took very little time to put it together. Here is how I made this card.

  • Card base – cut piece of Night of Navy cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″ and fold in half.
  • Select one of the 4″ x 6″ cards from the Card Pack and cut 1/2″ off both sides of the card in order for it to fit onto the front of the card. Add one of the stickers from the Card Pack as an embellishment.
  • For the inside of the card cut a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere to card.
  • Select a 3″ x 4″ card with plenty of space for writing a note. The lighthouse image has lines so it is perfect for writing! I also used the “Love You” sticker from the Card Pack.
