Needlepoint Nook Mother’s Day Cards

Today I’m featuring the Needlepoint Nook product suite from the Occasions catalog. The stamps include lovely floral images and a wonderful variety of greetings and type fonts. When you look close up at the Designer Series Papers the floral images are actual embroidered pieces that have been photographed and turned into these papers. The reverse sides of the papers feature different embroidery stitches. As someone who loves to embroider I really appreciate the work that went into creating them!

Here is a card I made for Mother’s Day using the Needle & Thread stamp set, Needlepoint Elements Framelits Dies and Needlepoint Nook Designer Series Paper.

Here are the steps to make the card:

  • Card base – Berry Burst card stock cut at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and fold in half
  • Cut piece of Designer Series Paper at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and attach to card base
  • Cut piece of Blushing Bride card stock at 3″ x 4″ and using the large floral die run through the Big Shot to emboss the stitched floral image
  • Stamp the largest flower with Berry Burst ink and stamp two of the smaller flowers, one with Balmy Blue and one with Highland Heather ink. Stamp the large leaf image with Old Olive ink. Die cut all images by running through the Big Shot
  • Use the Well Said bundle from the Occasions catalog to die cut the word “happy” from Balmy Blue card stock and stamp the Mother’s Day words on small piece of Whisper White card stock with Balmy Blue ink. To adhere the word you can either attach a small piece of a multipurpose adhesive sheet to the Balmy Blue card stock before running through the Big Shot or you can use multipurpose liquid glue or the fine-tip glue pen to adhere. Trim Mother’s Day words and attach underneath the “happy” die cut.
  • Arrange die cut floral images and adhere to card using multipurpose liquid glue.
  • Attach piece of Whisper White card stock cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″ to inside of card and if desired, stamp image of large flower with Berry Burst ink at bottom of card.

Here is another card using the product suite. It was one of the make and take projects we made at Stampin’ Up’s OnStage event last November. The greeting, “sending you happiness and love” is a perfect sentiment for a Mother’s Day card.

All of the products in this suite will be retiring on June 3rd so if you would like to purchase any of them do not wait because availability is while supplies last! Visit my online store to purchase these products.

Classic Garage Birthday Cards

Hello! Today I’m featuring two birthday cards using products from the Classic Garage Suite, which is pictured on pages 42-43 in the Occasions catalog. This is one of my favorite suites in the catalog and I’m so glad that the stamp set and coordinating dies will be carrying over into the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog. These products are great for making masculine cards and are so much fun to work with!

I made this for my friend Bill’s birthday last month and used my “go to” layout, which is a great way to showcase our great Designer Series Papers.

This card was made for my brother Mark, who celebrated his birthday yesterday. I decided to use the same layout for this card too.

To make both of these cards here are the basic dimensions.

  • Tranquil Tide cardstock for card base – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and fold in half
  • Classic Garage Designer Series Paper – 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Tranquil Tide cardstock mat for art piece – 3 1/4″ x 4″
  • Whisper White base for art piece – 3″ x 3 3/4″

For the first card stamp the car with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and die cut it with the coordinating framelit from the Garage Gears Thinlits Dies. Select a few of the gear dies and cut with Basic Black, Basic Gray and Silver Foil cardstock.

Wrap piece of silver metallic thread around Whisper White base and tape at back of piece. Using the Stamparatus, stamp the greeting in the upper left corner of the base with Tranquil Tide ink.

Adhere gears to base with multipurpose liquid glue. Adhere car using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Adhere base to Tranquil Tide mat and adhere this piece to the card.

For the second card stamp the car with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and die cut it with the coordinating framelit from the Garage Gears Thinlits Dies. Select a few of the gear dies and cut with Basic Black and Crushed Curry cardstock.

Using the oil splotch stamp, ink it up with Smoky Slate and stamp off once before stamping onto Whisper White piece. Do this several times. Using the Stamparatus, stamp the greeting in the upper left corner of the base with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

Adhere gears to base with multipurpose liquid glue. Adhere car using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Adhere base to Tranquil Tide mat and adhere this piece to the card.

As a reminder, Tranquil Tide, one of the 2017-2019 InColors will be retiring soon. In addition, the Classic Garage Designer Series Paper will also be retiring. This is a terrific set of papers and it really makes the cards pop! If you have been thinking about purchasing them now is the time!

Run through Big Shot with coordinating dies. Adhere to teapot and tea cup.
  • For the greeting I stamped “thanks” from the Beauty Abounds stamp set onto a small piece of Soft Sea Foam with Memento ink , however you can choose any greeting from your collection of stamp sets. Tea Together

Hello! Today I’m sharing another tea-themed card we made at my Tea Time class recently. This card features the Tea Together stamp set pictured on page 49 in the Occasions catalog and the coordinating Tea Time Framelits Dies that you can get as a free Sale-A-Bration item with any purchase of $100. I also used the beautiful Floral Romance Specialty Designer Series Paper shown on page 11 in the Occasions catalog. Included are 6 sheets of vellum, 3 each of 2 different single-sided designs and they are so lovely!

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Fresh Fig card stock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and fold in half.
  • Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Cut a piece of the leaf pattern vellum at 1 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ and a piece of the Petal Pink and white vellum at 2 1/2″ x 5 1/4″. Adhere vellum pieces to white card stock.
  • Cut a piece of coordinating ribbon or card stock and place over the seam where the two pieces of vellum meet. I used a piece of Powder Pink ribbon (retired), wrapped the ends to the back and adhered with snail tape.
  • Stamp teapot, tea cup and large rose with Memento black ink on Whisper White card stock. Stamp small flowers two or three times onto teapot and stamp one or two of the unopened flower bud images onto the tea cup. Color all of the floral images using the following Stampin’ Blends markers: Rich Razzleberry dark and light, Blackberry Bliss dark and light, Old Olive dark and light, Color Lifter to lighten and shade selected areas.
  • Once all coloring is done cut the shapes with the Tea Time dies. Arrange pieces onto vellum piece and attach the piece to the card base.
  • Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock at 4″ x 5 1/4″ for inside of card. Stamp a greeting of your choice. You can also stamp and color one of the small floral images on the bottom of the piece and adhere to card.

Tea Together

I love tea! I’m a lifelong tea drinker so every time Stampin’ Up! comes out with a tea-themed stamp set, I have to have it! I was so happy to see the Tea Room Suite in the 2018-2019 annual catalog and as nice as the images in the stamp set are, when I laid eyes on the Tea Together stamp set in the 2019 Occasions catalog, I was even more excited because these images are what I think of when I think of afternoon tea or tea parties – oh so lovely and feminine!

Last week I held a class with tea-themed projects using these products along with the Tea Time Framelits Dies, which is a Sale-A-Bration item that you can get for free with a $100 purchase. I was delighted to learn that these dies will be carried over into the 2019-2020 annual catalog! Today I am featuring the first of two cards using the Tea Together and Tea Time products and will post my other projects next week. I CASEd one of the cards shown on page 49 in the Occasions catalog for this project.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2 ” and fold in half.
  • Using the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper, select one of the 3 1/2″ x 5″ designs and trim with the Stampin’ Trimmer. Note that one side of the paper is Whisper White and the other is Very Vanilla so you can choose either side.
  • Cut a piece of the large Crushed Curry floral patterned paper from the Tea Room Specialty Designer Series Paper at 3 1/2″ x 5″ and adhere to the laser-cut piece.
  • Stamp the teapot from the Tea Together stamp set on watercolor paper with black StazOn ink. Stamp flowers onto the teapot. I stamped three flowers but you can also do one or two – your preference!
  • Watercolor the teapot using an aqua painter and Calypso Coral ink. For the flowers and leaves I used a blender pen, which I found to give more depth of color. I used Crush Curry ink for the flowers and Garden Green for the leaves. Stamp greeting on watercolor paper with black StazOn ink.
  • Die cut the teapot using the coordinating die from the Tea Time Framelits. Die cut greeting using the one of the hearts from the Be Mine Stitched Framelits Dies
  • Tie a piece of Old Olive linen thread around laser-cut piece. I wrapped the thread around the piece twice before tying the bow. Add pearls to centers of flowers. Attach this piece to card base and then attach the teapot and heart greeting.
