Toile Bird

Hello! It’s been a while since I last posted. Two weeks ago my laptop had an unfortunate, unplanned meet up with a cup of tea that spilled on my desk, and unfortunately also got into the laptop. After having to wait a few days for my tech person to work on it due to scheduling conflicts, I received the bad news that while the hard drive was okay, that for technical reasons he would have to start from scratch reloading all of my software, etc. I’m still in the recovery process to restore documents, contacts, etc – what a mess!! I’m having some issues accessing WordPress on my laptop and have been avoiding using it on my iPad because it is more cumbersome but couldn’t wait any longer to post, so for better or worse, I’m back ?

Today’s card features the beautiful bird from the Toile Tidings suite. I had been planning to submit it today to Kylie’s Demonstrator Training blog hop but wasn’t able to pull it off. Here is how I made the card.

I started with a Real Red card base cut at 5 1/2″ x 11″ and folded it in half. Next I cut a piece of Toile Tidings DSP at 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ and adhered it to the card. I cut a piece of Real Red cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 2 1/2″. I stamped the bird image with Versamark ink and then embossed it with the fun, new Shimmer White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then stamped and embossed the greeting. I adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The photos don’t do justice to how sparkly the embossing looks in person! Next I die cut four Real Red filigree corners from the Detailed Deer dies and adhered them with the Fine Tip Glue Pen to each of the corners on the DSP. For the inside of the card I cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and stamped the “tidings of comfort and joy” greeting and the large scroll image from the stamp set with Real Red ink.

The Raven – Another Idea

Hello! Today I’m sharing another card using the awesome The Raven stamp set. This was another one of the cards that we made recently in my Halloween card class. It is a gatefold and features the Monster Bash Designer Series papers and the new Shimmer Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut piece of Crushed Curry cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″. Score at 3 1/4″ and 8 3/4″ on the long edge. Fold on both score lines and run bone folder along both edges.
  • Cut two pieces of DSP at 3″ x 4″ and two pieces at 2″ x 4″. Adhere to front and inner flaps of the card.
  • Cut piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Stamp greeting of your choice from the stamp set With Memento black ink. Stamp tree branch with black ink in corner. Adhere to center of the card.
  • Cut piece of Whisper White cardstock at 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″. When I looked at the raven and branch stamps I thought that the shimmer embossing powder would work great on these images and I love how it it looks! Run the Embossing Buddy over the cardstock and then stamp the raven and branch with Versamark. Pour the embossing powder over the stamped images, shake off excess powder and use a heat tool to emboss. Use the 5th largest Stitched Rectangle die and run through your die cutting machine.
  • Cut piece of Basic Black cardstock at 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″. Use the 6th largest Stitched Rectangle die and run through your die cutting machine. Adhere to embossed piece. Apply glue to the left side only on this piece and adhere to left front card flap.
  • Stamp “Beware” greeting with Memento black ink on scrap piece of Crushed Curry cardstock. Select one of the dies from the Ornate Frame Dies set and run through your die cutting machine. Adhere to the embossed piece.
