Happy Halloween!

Hello! Today I’m sharing my last Halloween project with you, featuring the adorable Mini Curvy Keepsakes Box Dies. I attended an American Business Women’s Association local chapter mixer last evening and rather than bring a bottle of wine, I thought it would be a nice touch to bring treat boxes filled with candies for all of the attendees. They looked very nice placed on either side of the table centerpiece. Everyone oohed and aahed and were delighted when I told them they each got to take one home!

I ended up using mostly retired products because they worked really well and it was an opportunity for me to continue to use them up. I used some of the Monster Bash Designer Series Papers in the current Holiday catalog a as well as papers from Halloween DSP from previous years that had more small-scale prints. I also used Basic Black Bakers Twine and the pumpkin on the tag came from a very old set, Halloween Frights. I tend to keep many holiday sets after they retire.

Here is how I made the boxes.

  • Cut your selected Designer Series Papers into 6″ squares. Cut box shape with die from the Mini Curvy Keepsakes Box Dies by running through your die cutting machine. Fold box on all of the score lines.
  • Place candies in open box before closing it up. The box holds 4-5 Hershey Kisses or 2-3 Miniatures or other similar-sized candies.
  • Die cut tags using the oval-shaped die in the set. Stamp a greeting or image on scraps of Whisper White card stock. I stamped the pumpkin image with Pumpkin Pie ink.
  • Thread bakers twine or other ribbon through the tag and then thread it through the box handles and tie in a bow.

Monster Bash Triangle Cards

Today I have two fun triangle fold cards using the Monster Bash Designer Series Papers. I was going through some back issues of stamping magazines and came across this idea for Halloween cards in the Autumn 2017 issue of CardMaker magazine. The samples were really cute so I thought I’d give it a try.

Here is how I made the cards.

  • Cut two pieces of cardstock into 5″ squares and score each of them on the diagonal. I used Basic Black and Pumpkin Pie for both cards. Place one square with the score line going vertically. Align one side of the other square along the score line on the first square and align the points at the top.
  • Fold along the score lines on both pieces, make sharp crease with bone folder and turn card over.
  • Cut a 4 3/4″square from a piece of Monster Bash Designer Series Paper and cut in half diagonally. Adhere to card front. Note: if you are using a paper with a directional pattern make sure it will be positioned properly.
  • For this card punch the cat from a piece of black foil paper with the cat punch and adhere it to the bottom of the front triangle. Stamp “Beware” from The Raven stamp set with Memento Black ink on scrap piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock and cut with a die from the Ornate Frames die set. Adhere to card with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. On Pumpkin Pie bottom point stamp part of the tree branch from The Raven stamp set with Memento Black Ink. Adhere the left front flap to the right flap using a thin line of liquid glue.
  • For this card fussy cut a few of the framed characters from the sheet of Designer Series Papers. Stamp greeting, “It’s Halloween” with Pumpkin Pie ink on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and trim down. Adhere bottom of the skeleton & pumpkin characters to the greeting and adhere to card. Adhere vampire character to card. Adhere small character to right bottom point. Adhere left front flap to right flap with thin line of liquid glue.

There is enough space for you to write a greeting and sign the card on the flip side. The card stands like an easel.

The Raven – Another Idea

Hello! Today I’m sharing another card using the awesome The Raven stamp set. This was another one of the cards that we made recently in my Halloween card class. It is a gatefold and features the Monster Bash Designer Series papers and the new Shimmer Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut piece of Crushed Curry cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″. Score at 3 1/4″ and 8 3/4″ on the long edge. Fold on both score lines and run bone folder along both edges.
  • Cut two pieces of DSP at 3″ x 4″ and two pieces at 2″ x 4″. Adhere to front and inner flaps of the card.
  • Cut piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Stamp greeting of your choice from the stamp set With Memento black ink. Stamp tree branch with black ink in corner. Adhere to center of the card.
  • Cut piece of Whisper White cardstock at 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″. When I looked at the raven and branch stamps I thought that the shimmer embossing powder would work great on these images and I love how it it looks! Run the Embossing Buddy over the cardstock and then stamp the raven and branch with Versamark. Pour the embossing powder over the stamped images, shake off excess powder and use a heat tool to emboss. Use the 5th largest Stitched Rectangle die and run through your die cutting machine.
  • Cut piece of Basic Black cardstock at 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″. Use the 6th largest Stitched Rectangle die and run through your die cutting machine. Adhere to embossed piece. Apply glue to the left side only on this piece and adhere to left front card flap.
  • Stamp “Beware” greeting with Memento black ink on scrap piece of Crushed Curry cardstock. Select one of the dies from the Ornate Frame Dies set and run through your die cutting machine. Adhere to the embossed piece.
