Boho Beach Kit

Hello!

Today is the last day of the Kit Sale, with discounts up to 30% off. I usually purchase one or two kits a year and as soon as the Boho Beach Kit was introduced I purchased it right away. I think it is one of the most beautiful kits we have ever had. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, being a Pisces, I’m drawn to beach and ocean-themed images! In all the years I’ve been a demonstrator, I never held a kit class until this kit came out and everyone loved it! We made two cards as shown in the kit instructions and then made three additional cards showing alternative options for making the cards using elements of the kit and combining them with different stamp sets, dies and papers.

The next three cards are the alternative versions I designed.

For this card I used a piece of Thick Basic White cardstock cut at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ for the base and cut down one of the cards in the kit to 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″, adhering it to the card front. I used another card front to die cut a 3″ circle. Stamp the large shell from the Season of Chic stamp set with Lost Lagoon ink and run through die cutting machine with coordinating Chic die. The smaller shells were die cut from a piece of Lost Lagoon Soft Shimmer Paper. The bow was made from a piece of Wild Wheat Jute Trim that I separated into one strand.

Cut a piece of Thick Basic White cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ for the card base. Cut a piece of Pool Party cardstock at 4″ x 4 1/2″. Cut the front of a card base at 1 1/2″ x 3 3/4″. Cut apart one of the envelopes and trim it down to 3 3/4 x 3 1/4″. Die cut edge of the envelope piece with the torn edge die from the Seaside Bay dies and adhere to the card base. Stamp the large and small bird images from the Seaside Bay stamp set and color with Pretty Peacock, Crumb Cake and Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blends. Cut with Seaside Bay dies. Stamp grass and sand images from stamp set with Pecan Pie and Wild Wheat ink. Adhere birds to card front, adhere to Pool Party cardstock, and adhere piece to white card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Stamp greeting from kit.

Use one of the card bases from the kit. Adhere umbrella, leaf and bench from kit. Stamp greeting from the Paradise Palms stamp set with Pecan Pie ink and run through die cutting machine using the hexagon die from the Something Fancy dies. This set is now retired but it is one I won’t part with because of the wonderful greetings in the set, which are perfect for these cards! Cut a length of the linen thread and wrap it around twice, adhere to card and adhere stamped greeting with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Using a small piece of Distressed Gold Specialty Paper, run through die cutting machine using several different shells from the Chic die set.

These are close-up photos of the two cards shown in the kit instructions.

I used Wink of Stella on all of the cards and assorted embellishments for some extra summertime glitz!

By the Bay Fun Fold Card

Hello!

Today’s card is another one I made with the By the Bay Suite. It features the W Fun Fold, which looks difficult, but is really easy to make.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″, fold and crease with a bone folder
  • Stamp the sea shell and sand image from the Seaside Bay stamp set with Balmy Blue ink around all four sides of the card front so that it looks like a frame.
  • Cut a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock at 3 1/8″ x 4 7/8″. Cut a piece of By the Bay Specialty Designer Series Paper at 3″ x 4 3/4″. I chose one of the papers with a scene. Adhere to Crumb Cake piece and adhere to card front.
  • Stamp large bird image with Soft Suede ink on a scrap piece of Basic White cardstock. Stamp the sea shell and sand image with Sahara Sand ink on the scrap piece. Run through die cutting machine with the coordinating dies from the Seaside Bay Dies.
  • Cut a small piece of Pearlescent Specialty Paper and run through die cutting machine with the double small shell die and one large shell die. Cut a small piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock and run through die cutting machine with one large and one small grass dies.
  • Arrange die cut pieces on the DSP and adhere.
  • Run the large shell through die cutting machine with a piece of Basic White cardstock. Cut shell in half. Stamp greeting from Paradise Palms stamp set with Balmy Blue ink on the shell and adhere to DSP. Embellish card front with several Flat Adhesive-Backed Pearls.

Here is how to make the inside of the card.

  • Stamp the sea shell and sand image with Balmy Blue ink all around the sides of the Balmy Blue cardstock
  • Cut two pieces of DSP at 3″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere.
  • Cut four pieces of Balmy Blue cardstock at 2 1/4″ each and four pieces of Basic White cardstock at 2″ each. Stamp the large crab image with Balmy Blue ink on the first piece. Stamp the small bird images three times with Night of Navy ink on the second piece. Stamp the oyster shell with Crumb Cake ink on the third piece. Stamp the sand image with Sahara Sand ink around the images on all three pieces. Leave the fourth piece blank to write your note or stamp the greeting of your choice. Adhere white squares to Balmy Blue squares.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 1″ x 11″ and score at 2 3/4″, 5 1/2″ and 8 1/4″. Crease all folds very sharply with a bone folder.
  • Run a thin line of liquid glue at the top of the 11″ strip. Open card and center the strip in the middle. Line up the top of the strip with the top of the card and adhere. Run a thin line of liquid glue at the bottom of the strip. Line up the strip with the bottom of the card and adhere.
  • Adhere the four squares to the strip, running a thin line of liquid glue in the middle of each square. Don’t apply glue to the entire square otherwise the fold won’t work properly.

Last July I posted a W Fun Fold with the Hues of Happiness Suite. Here is the card. To view the blog post, click here.

Seaside Bay Diorama Card

Hello!

Today’s card is a Seaside Bay Diorama Card, which uses products from the beautiful By the Bay Suite. As soon as I saw this in the January-April 2023 Mini Catalog I knew it would be the first thing I purchased in my pre-order! The Designer Series Paper is absolutely stunning! When I saw the DSP with the fish design I thought it would work great with the Layering Diorama Dies.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – Cut a piece of Coastal Cabana at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
  • Cut a piece of the fish paper from the By the Bay Designer Series Paper at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Adhere to card base.
  • Cut a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and run through die cutting machine with the fourth largest die from the Layering Diorama Dies.
  • Cut a coordinating piece of paper from the By the Bay Designer Series Paper at 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and run through die cutting machine with the third largest die from the Layering Diorama Dies.
  • Place the Coastal Cabana die cut piece over the fish DSP and then place the die cut DSP over it. Turn the pieces in different directions until you get a design you like. I wanted to show off as much of the fish as possible and liked how it looked with the Coastal Cabana piece turned the way I decided on. Adhere Coastal Cabana piece to the fish DSP. Adhere the die cut DSP piece to front of card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used a lot of them in order to create a 3D look.
  • Cut a piece of a Gold Foil Sheet at 2 1/2″ x 3″ and run through die cutting machine with the shell die from the Seaside Bay Dies. Fold along score lines and adhere to card.
  • Cut a piece of Petal Pink cardstock at 2″ square. Stamp greeting from the Paradise Palms stamp set with Soft Suede ink and run through die cutting machine with the shell die from the Chic Dies. Adhere to card, tucking the bottom into the bottom of the Coastal Cabana die cut piece.
  • Cut a piece of Pool Party Sheer Ribbon at 5″, fold in half and adhere in between the gold and Petal Pink shells. Trim ends.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Stamp the large clam image with Coastal Cabana ink in right bottom corner. Adhere to inside of card. Adhere a large Flat Adhesive Pearl to the clam.
